Green Amber Jewellery

Just like the other colours of amber, green amber also goes through the same natural process—it originates as resin from the Hymenaea Protera tree. Throughout the process of becoming amber, fresh green leaves are trapped in the resin before it turns hard. This is responsible for the green pigmentation of the amber before it is fossilised

Ahardened gemstone in golden or red colour is the first image that comes to mind when people think of amber. Some think that other colour variations are made of plastic or glass or are not even genuine. But what most people do not know is that amber also comes in other colours, including dark or light green varieties.

It is a very unique gemstone that can be set on both silver and gold jewellery, including necklaces, bracelets, earrings and even anklets.

The Natural Colour and Fragrance of Green Amber

Green amber, along with its inclusions, has a natural green colour even though some are darker while others are lighter. The clearer ones mostly come from the ocean because the waves had removed their imperfections over time. On the other hand, the mined varieties, require extra smoothing by going through the machine.

Similar to its red and yellow counterparts, green amber also gives off a natural scent and when worn against the skin, it produces a subtle pine tree scent.

Amber’s Healing Powers

For millennia, amber has been linked to healing. Once worn against the skin, it produces succinic acid, an antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory compound known to offer excellent antioxidant protection which is great for anti-aging. The skin absorbs this acid which then benefits the wearer. Also, the natural oils of amber are extracted then used in spas and other wellness centres.
